Breathwork Classes

Our breathwork classes are designed to help you harness the power of your breath to reduce stress, increase energy, and improve mental clarity. Led by experienced instructors, our classes are suitable for all levels and are a great way to deepen your connection to your breath.

What happens in a breathwork session?

In breathwork, you manipulate or change your breathing pattern to have a desired effect on the body. Some breathwork techniques are more calming and regulating to the system while others are activating and help to enhance your physical performance.

What to expect after a breathwork session?

You may feel different than usual.

Compassion and gentleness for yourself is so vital right now (and always).

After, you may feel calm, clear, creative, inspired, grounded, more connected to yourself and/or others, forgiveness, a combination or something else entirely.

What happens to the brain during breathwork?

Deep breathing and relaxation activate the other part of your nervous system, the parasympathetic nervous system, which sends a signal to your brain to tell the anxious part that you're safe and don't need to use the fight, flight, or freeze response. Deep breathing gets more oxygen to the thinking brain.

What do I need to bring?

  • Water

  • Yoga Mat

  • Eye Mask (this will enhance the experience)

  • Pillow or Cushion

  • Light blanket or towel

  • Bolster (or extra pillow)

  • Wear comfortable clothing

  • Open Mind 

What about refunds?

Due to restricted participant numbers in a journey there are NO REFUNDS, if you wish to cancel or decide to not attend.

We are happy for you to transfer your booking to another person. Please email 

b4breathcairns@gmail.com 

with your full name and the full name and email of the person you are transferring to and we will get in contact with them.

In certain circumstances a *credit for another journey may be given.

Contraindications*

Our breathwork journeys can be taken at your own pace. You are in control of your own experience.

  • Persons with asthma should bring their inhaler.

  • If you are pregnant, please advise us and a modified style of breathing will be given to you.

  • Please advise if you have high or low blood pressure.

 

It is not recommended for people with the following:

​

  • A history of cardiovascular disease, including angina or heart attack.

  • Use of a pacemaker.

  • Significant recent physical injuries or surgery.

  • Diagnosed severe mental condition (schizophrenia, bi-polar).

  • Suffer from Epilepsy or Seizures.

  • If currently taking heavy duty medications.

  • Family history of aneurysms.

 

*Please note, this list is not exhaustive, and we generally advise that if you have a question about any condition you may have, that is not listed here, consult your Physician before participating in a breathwork session.
